Panel Discussion

The Three Amigos of Plein Air will participate in a panel discussion about their work, unique styles of painting, inspirations and motivations.  The discussion will be moderated by Sandy Larsen, retired festival director.

Vermilion Cliffs 1 – Dennis Farris

 Dennis Farris was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from Central Missouri State University with a degree in art.  He has lived and worked as an illustrator and artist in Fort Worth, Texas since the late 1980s.  Dennis was the Escalante Canyons Artist-in-Residence in 2014, the Zion National Park Artist-in-Residence in 2010 and the Grand Canyon National Park – North Rim Artist-in-Residence in 2012.  His work can be viewed at farrisart.com.

Doug Braithwaite was born and raised in Utah and graduated with a bachelor’s in fine art from the University of Utah.  He has won numerous awards in plein air painting throughout the country, including Best of Show at the Escalante Canyons Art Festival in 2004.  He frequently hosts plein air workshops and has been featured in numerous art magazines.  His work can be viewed atdougbraithwaite.com.

Brad Holt

Brad Holt was born and raised in southern Utah and graduated from what is now Southern Utah University as an Art Composite Major.  Brad took Best of Show at the Escalante Canyons Art Festival in 2006, received the the Artist’s Choice Award, and was the Featured Artist in 2012.  He has been an artist participant in the Zion Plein Air Invitational: In The Footsteps of Thomas Moran, since its inception. His work can be viewed at jbradholt.com.
