Eileen Guernsey Brown: Keeping it Simple!

September 21 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

I will be demonstrating how I start a Plein-air painting, from deciding what to paint, to what is important to include as well as what to leave out. Once I settle on subject, I’ll talk about using quick “notan” sketches to come up with a good composition. Next, I’ll express the 3-5 big masses, blocking in with correct values. I strive to use a direct approach, putting down brushstrokes and then leaving them alone (easier said than done!). Watch and enjoy the process!

Eileen Guernsey Brown was born and raised in Southern California, her artistic talents from an early age encouraged by family and teachers. After attending the University of Utah and having careers in graphic design and education, Eileen turned her focus to fine art. She has always enjoyed combining her love of oil painting with being outdoors. “Painting outdoors provides the immediacy that motivates and inspires me. Being outdoors observing the light, translating what I see to canvas, and simply absorbing the beauty of our natural world makes me happy.”

You can see more of her work here.
