Mon September 22, 2025 @ 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
NOTE: Limited to 12 participants.
Caravan and carpool from Anasazi State Park Museum parking lot. No pets please.

With naturalist Bob Stevenson: We’ll explore how personal stories are shaped and sandwiched among geological stories and the geopolitics of the cold war.
What ideas and stories connect these words? Anticline, petrified wood, Shinarump, paleoenvironment, ambition, Yellow Jacket, Hot Shot, atomic, family, lightbulb. If you’re curious, join Ranger Bob for a hike into the stark and wildly beautiful Circle Cliffs region of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

Before Bob Stevenson was Bob, he was a rock. As Bob, he played in the woods, earned a degree in geology, had fun in the mountains and canyons across North America and Hawaii. He was a park ranger for 36 years (21 at Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument), and really enjoys sharing nature with everyone. Sometime in the distant future Bob expects to be a rock again.
