Coco Kishi grew up working with a variety of arts and crafts including jewelry, ceramics, textiles, painting, and sculpture.
For over 35 years, Coco has been practicing Pysanky- a Ukrainian traditional craft in which applied wax and liquid dyes produce elaborate designs on eggs. Many of Coco’s eggs incorporate designs inspired by the native cultures of the southwest. Several years ago Coco branched out into painting on hard shell gourds which she and local friends grew in their gardens. Recently she has begun to experiment with making paper mache sculptures, depicting animals and landscapes.
