There are numerous opportunities throughout the festival for artists to sell art and for art patrons to purchase it. Please remember that all art sales associated with the Escalante Canyons Art Festival are subject to a 25% commission.
The Plein Air Exhibit is the highlight of the festival and showcases all art submitted for the Plein Air Competitions. The show typically includes more than 100 entries in oil, pastel, watercolor, and other mixed media that have been produced during the days leading up to the show by registered artists of all levels of experience. It also includes the works submitted for the Paint-Out events earlier in the week. The exhibit is a great venue for purchasing art and seeing how the region’s rural and natural landscapes have been interpreted and captured on canvas or paper by artists from near and far. Most works are for sale via direct sales or the silent auction that closes on Saturday evening.
Artisans, artists and crafters from around the region come to Escalante each year to share their unique products with festival attendees. The Arts & Crafts Fair is great for finding regionally made items that have a story to tell about the area and those who live and work here. Jewelry, ceramics, photography, wooden crafts, fiber goods and an array of items can be found.
Artists display and sell plein air paintings created during the week but not entered in the competition in the Artists Overflow Sales Tent, located just outside the Exhibit Hall.
Artwork need not be framed but must have current year’s festival stamp on the back and have been completed during current year’s festival. To sell artwork in the Artists Overflow Sales Tent, artists are encouraged to volunteer to assist with staffing the booth on Friday or Saturday. The volunteer sign-up to schedule time slots will be available at Artist Stamp-In.
This no-host brunch at the close out the festival on Sunday is the last opportunity to purchase art from festival artists. You never know what crazy art deals you might secure at this closing event.
