Nancy Lewis will lead a free outside painting adventure which is open for anyone with a creative spirit – no experience necessary – bring the whole family. She will start with an explanation of what plein air means and give a short demo on how to use brushes, mix colors, and how to make darks and lights. This will be followed by everyone painting for an hour to explore your imagination and inner artist. Non-toxic materials will be provided, along with instructions and guidance. Bring your creative mind and old clothes because you will get messy, after all it is plein air painting.
Nancy combines her love for the great outdoors, traveling and painting. Painting outside in the fresh air is her passion and inspirations for most of her images. With bold brushstrokes, dynamic value range and a unique approach to color, Lewis art captures the amazing changing light of the west. She often says, her paintings “are about the light”.
Nancy actively participates in regional plein air events and exhibits her art in local, regional and national shows. In 2012 she was the first Artist-in-Residence program at the Escalante Grand Staircase National Monument. Nancy has participated in the Zion, Cedar Breaks, and Rockville Plein Air Invitational events. Besides painting outdoors, she can be found painting in her studio from time to time in Palisade, Colorado as well as teaching art classes, and workshops. She is the Western Colorado Coordinator for Plein Air Artists Colorado (PAAC).
