Lewis Williams: BOGO – Two for One Painting

Meet at Escalante Town Park,

This demonstration is more about a painting experience than a daily practice, but it might lead into a new way of working or seeing.  The two for one, ironically, will involve painting two paintings of the same view at the same time.  One painting will be done with direct observation while the other, facing with the back to the scene, will be painted from memory.  “Why?” you’ll ask - “why not?” I will respond.  I will challenge myself to paint…

Celebrate Public Lands Paint Out

$875 in prizes Stamp-in: 7 AM to NOON / Submission: 2 PM to 5 PM "Celebrate Public Lands" is the theme for the 2017 Paint-Out. Artists may paint subjects on any public lands in Garfield, Kane or Wayne Counties. Proceeds from the Celebrate Public Lands Paint Out will be donated to Grand Staircase-Escalante Partners to support their programming and initiatives.

Bonnie Griffith: Oil and Cold Wax

Bonnie Griffith will use a mix of oil and cold wax medium, brayering layers of paint to create an abstracted landscape.  She will use a variety of textures created with stamps, tools, inks, and other items to create a mixed media piece on a wooden panel. Carol Bold: The Reductive Landscape

Plein Air Exhibit and Art Sale
