Montana-born singer-songwriter Bob Phillips writes and performs in the tradition of American roots music, offering an authentic and musically compelling look at life, the world and ourselves. Diverse musical styles color his tunes, which range from gritty rock anti-war anthems to rebel folk and country-blues. With diverse musical influences ranging from John Prine and Bob Dylan to Bob Marley and Townes Van Zandt, Phillips sometimes expresses a biting look at the modern world. At other times, melodic ballads express a poetic free-spiritedness, love for landscapes and yearning for discovery that is also at its roots very American. His love and respect for the roots and traditions of American music – folk, blues, country, rock – come through vividly in his own songs and performances.
